Alright guys, our sophomore album, “Sketches II” is here and we’re celebrating at This Ain’t Hollywood by playing the entire “Sketches” series front to back! As you may or may not know, we’ve been playing Rock n’ Roll music together for the past eight years and during that time we’ve been fortunate enough to have done some really amazing things..we’ve been on TV, toured the continent, opened for KISS and Bon Jovi and met a lot of great people along the way. But if there’s one thing that we feel absolutely certain about, it’s that there’s nothing more exhilarating and nothing we are more proud of than being able to throw a CD Release Party with friends and family who’ve supported us since day one. As usual, we’ll be having a few guests who will be joining us on stage and The Bandicoots and Go To The West will be helping us take it home. It’s gonna be quite the night, folks – our last in Hamilton before we’re back on the road – so come by, have a few drinks and get a glimpse of what the THE ZILIS are all about.
Alright guys here’s the inside scoop! As you may or may not know, ”Sketches II” is complete and is set for a release in early 2014. Our work, however, is far from over. In the next few months, we plan on recording a new music video, booking an east coast tour, updating our website, doing another photoshoot and getting some ZILI merch…yes, we’re finally ordering our very own t-shirts!! We’re very proud of this album. It’s definitely our finest collection of songs yet, so you can bet your bell-bottoms that we’re gonna do everything we can to make this release the best it can be. Buckle up, sit tight and enjoy the ride, folks! There are some great things to come ahead…
What an eventful summer it’s been for The Zilis! How can we forget the Berkeley Church fundraiser in Toronto with our friends, The Pick Brothers, or the Canada Day Party with the Flamingo crew along the Hamilton waterfront..the Who’s We Launch Party at Bay City Music Hall, the awesome Horseshoe Tavern gig with Of Gentlemen and Cowards or the good vibes at Thorpe’s Organic Farm in Millgrove? Throw in our bi-weekly residency at the Lazy Flamingo and you can say we’ve covered a lot of ground this summer! Still, we want to end the season with a bang; and what better way to do it than with the recording of a brand new album! We have a ton of new tunes and ideas to work on folks, so the three of us will be hibernating at home and in the studio the next few weeks to really sort ‘em out. So far, everything sounds fantastic but only the best of the bunch will be making the cut for “Sketches II”! Stay tuned for more updates folks, this one’s gonna be special!
It’s been a fantastic May ladies and gents! Our latest tour – “The Indulgence Tour 2013” – took us to Montreal, Ottawa, Kingston and Windsor, and finished off with a bang at the ultra-cool Casbah Lounge in Hamilton. We were also fortunate enough to have a photo shoot with the super talented Joe Fuda in Toronto last month (check out the pics on Facebook and Instagram!). Last but certainly not least, we have been offered a summer residency gig down at the Lazy Flamingo where we’ll be performing for FREE every other Wednesday. The past few gigs there have been off the rails so make sure you check it out! We’re really excited about these new tunes as well and can’t wait to start working on “Sketches II”. Stay tuned for updates on the new album folks! Once again, thank you for your support. Hopefully see you soon..

Hey guys! We’re extremely excited to announce that our very first music video is complete! Since the title of the song actually comes from a line in Jack Kerouac’s 1950s beat-novel, “On The Road”, we decided to film it on our little road trip to Detroit/Windsor a couple of months back. Our friend Gavin Booth did a phenomenal job at capturing us in our element and we couldn’t be more proud. Hopefully ya dig it as much as we do..see you soon!
Hey folks! We have been fortunate enough to make it to the second round of McMaster University’s “Last Band Standing”, where the winner gets to play a show on campus and goes on to the Ontario Finals. If you have a minute to spare, please vote for us at https://www.msumcmaster.ca/last-band-standing/vote-here. We’re also very proud to say that our album, “Sketches”, charted at #4 on CFMU 93.3 (McMaster University Radio) and our song “Coyote Nowhere has been featured on the album “Rock It Up! Ontario All-Stars Compilation”, so some good things are on the horizon for The ZILIS. Once again, thank you so much for your never-ending support. Hopefully catch ya on the dancefloor!
And check out a cartoon that our buddy Kevin Surette did up!
Well, 2012 is in the books and what an eventful year it’s been! We managed to play 120 shows, book a tour, write, record and release our extremely well received debut album, “Sketches” and win a few awards and accolades in the process. To kick off the new year, we will be playing alongside our old friends The HandGrenades and Katie Bulley in Detroit on January 18th where we’ll be playing at a legendary bowling alley/music venue called The Garden Bowl, and in Windsor on January 19th where we’ll be playing Milk Coffee Bar to finish up our music video for “Coyote Nowhere” and to celebrate Drew’s birthday! Also, don’t forget to check our tour dates at the side because we’re always playing shows in and around Southern Ontario on a regular basis. Who knows, we may even add a few new tunes to our original set! All the best in the new year folks, hopefully see you soon!
Well folks, it’s official! We’ll be working with Gavin Michael Booth of Mimetic Productions to make our very first music video for our song, “Coyote Nowhere”! Gavin has done some great work with Vanessa Carlton, Third Eye Blind, Bon Jovi, Finger Eleven, Switchfoot and The Blue Stones to name a few, so we’re extremely excited to be working together. The video will be shot on December 21st in Mississauga at the legendary Failte Irish Pub so make sure you stop by for a chance to be in it! Once again, thank you for all your support and happy holidays!
Great weekend at the Hamilton Music Awards! Zander won the Drummer of the Year and we blew the roof off of This Ain’t Hollywood for the showcase/after party. We’re also very proud to announce that we’ve independently booked and played 100+ shows this year (that’s over 300 hrs of music!) so we’ll be rockin’ the Casbah Lounge this Friday with our friends Gruve and Kumonga to celebrate..ALSO, we’ll be filming our very first music video soon so stay tuned for more ZILI news!
